Landscaping

Our Eco Centre inspires within and without
The Eco Centre and The Crow’s Nest are positioned on a large site with a long-term vision to have an educational landscape around the centre.

The wider landscape plan is derived from permaculture elements to provide demonstration edible gardens, local NZ native species, an outdoor kitchen and nature play. The vision is to learn by doing at the Eco Centre.

Initial work has focused on NZ native shrub planting and a concept design was commissioned from Jason Ross of Habitate https://www.habitate.co.nz/

Children’s Outdoor Play Space

In 2023 the trust secured a further National Lottery Grant to create a children’s outdoor play space that also provides a BBQ area and children’s kitchen. NB Architects has been engaged to create plans for a space that ultilises materials that are primarily natural or recycled to construct a place that is novel and natural place to play.

The full concept plans including a resource list can be viewed on the link below.
