Junk to Funk 2025 a success!

This year’s competition was a huge step up from last year, with a brand-new format that brought fresh energy and creativity. We’re incredibly grateful to all the entrants, sponsors, and volunteers — this event simply wouldn’t have been possible without you!

We were stoked to receive 32 amazing entries. Over half came from talented primary school students, who impressed us with creations like bird feeders made from old chairs, survival bags from chip packets, and tea makers crafted from household waste!

Congratulations to all our participants, especially our winners:
🌿 Willow Rainey — 1st Equal Primary + People’s Choice Award

🌿 Timaru Central St Johns Cadets – 1st Equal Primary

🌿 Ariana Leotta— 1st High School

🌿 Andrew Adeane — 1st Adult Novice

🌿 Kieran Fitzgerald — 1st Adult Experienced

A big thank you to our generous sponsors:

Enviro NZ | Timaru Sewing Centre | Crows Nest | Artistic Avenue | The Raptor Experience

And a special shoutout to our incredible committee — DoriLizJenCorrie, and Alice — for making everything run smoothly behind the scenes. Thank you to our judges Rose and Jen, who had a very difficult job!

Keep an eye out for 2026 details — it’s going to be even better!
