Highfield School have hit the ground running after attending the Eco Leaders Hui!
By the Monday after the Wednesday hui, students had already finalised their plan, checked it with their Principal, and were ready to present a video at the Board of Trustees meeting about getting chickens for their garden area. They were prepared with answers to all the big questions the Board might throw at them: How will they pay for them? Have they spoken with the neighbours? Who will look after them in the holidays?
Once permission was granted, they leapt straight into action with a $1000 fundraising goal. Within just two days of their Grow Your Garden fundraiser, they had already raised $600 thanks to the incredible support of their community!
Huge shout out to the 4 students who attended the hui, their wider school team, and Emma Hunt who leads the garden project. We can’t wait to visit once the chickens have moved in!
