Alice attends BLAKE Inspire for Teachers

Alice had an incredible five-day journey in Auckland as part of the BLAKE Inspire for Teachers programme, bursting with ideas and enthusiasm for environmental leadership! The week was packed with learning adventures – from stargazing at Stardome and exploring the rocky shore, to visiting Tāwharanui Open Sanctuary (where she even spotted a kiwi!), and touring Sawmill Brewery, New Zealand’s only B-Corp certified brewery known for its strong commitment to sustainability. Alice has come home with three exciting action plans:
  1. Reignite Seaweek in Timaru – Inspiring local communities to connect with and learn more about our moana by collaborating with local businesses and groups.
  2. Expand our education offerings – Introducing new programmes focused on Moana and Climate Change for schools.
  3. Launch a Citizen Science project – Using iNaturalist during Conservation Week this September to engage students and the community in being part of the solution.
If you’re keen to support any of these initiatives, Alice would love to connect with you!

A heartfelt thank you to the Sustainable South Canterbury Trust for making this opportunity possible, and to the Ministry of Education, sponsors, and the BLAKE Foundation for delivering such an inspiring and fully funded experience.
