One small repair can save money, reduce waste, and keep a favourite item going for years longer.
Every second Sunday of the month, the South Canterbury Eco Centre turns into a busy little workshop powered by generous community volunteers. One volunteer might be fixing a lamp, another patching someone’s favourite jeans, while nearby a bike gets tuned up and someone learns a new sewing skill over a cup of tea.
Our volunteer repairers help give broken, damaged, and well-loved items a second chance. It’s also a chance to learn new skills, build community connections, and share conversations with others.
We’re always keen for more handy people to join the crew. If you enjoy fixing, sewing, electronics, finding solutions to problems, or simply helping people feel welcome (you could even be the tea maker!), we’d love to hear from you.
Not sure if your item can be repaired? Bring it along or get in touch – you might be surprised what can be saved. If our amazing volunteers can’t fix it they may be able to give you advice on where to get it fixed or if it is officially at the end of life. At least you would have tried!
Repairs available each month will be announced during the week of the event on our socials, newsletter, and at the top of this event page.
Koha is warmly welcomed to help keep the Repair Café thriving. A genuine heartfelt thank you to the volunteers who generously share their time, skills, and enthusiasm with the community.
