Alongside all the usual repairs you know and love, we’re excited to be hosting a special pop-up: Yarn & Stitch: Repair & Learn
This hands-on learning corner will focus on simple, practical textile skills – helping you repair, reuse, and rediscover the value in your clothing and fabrics. Whether you’re a total beginner or have a few skills to share, there’ll be something for everyone.
We’re thrilled to be teaming up with Timaru Creative Fibre, who will be supporting a range of learning stations, including:
- Learning to knit
- Troubleshooting knitting projects
- Reusing yarn from thrifted garments
- Visible mending for knitwear
We’ll also have beginner-friendly learning stations like sewing on a button, basic hand sewing, a sewing machine experience, and easy clothing repairs.

If you have skills in sewing (machine or hand), knitting, crochet, darning – or just love helping others learn – we’d love a few extra hands for this one-off session. Email us to volunteer and be part of something special!
Come along, bring something to repair, and pick up a new skill or two while you’re at it. We will be advertising what repairers are available for the traditional Repair Café closer to the time, or email us if you want to know if the right skills will be there for you.
