Event Type
Aspire to be an urban farmer? Chickens, bees, and worms are three small but mighty helpers that can completely transform your backyard. Chickens don’t just provide fresh eggs – they also gobble up food scraps and help keep pests down. Bees are essential pollinators that boost the health of your garden and orchard while giving you golden honey. Worms quietly work underground, turning kitchen waste into nutrient-rich compost that feeds your soil.
You’ll learn the why and how of keeping them, hear real stories and tips from experienced local “farmers,” and get the chance to ask all your burning questions. Come along and discover how these creatures can make your home more sustainable and productive!
7pm – 9pm, speaker, Q and A, finishing with supper.
There will be a cover charge of $5 for this event to go towards supper.
Thank you for your support!
This event is part of the South Canterbury Eco Centre’s monthly “Eco Talks”. During the first week of most months we aim to have a presenter, followed by supper. These sessions will be a minimum of $5 per person and can be booked via our website. If you would prefer to pay cash on the night, let us know as we appreciate knowing how many we are catering for – admin@scecocentre.org.nz.
