Building on last year’s booked-out event, we aim to empower students with the message that “We Can Make a Difference.” The day encourages students to explore how small, meaningful actions can create big environmental change. Grounded in the Sustainable Development Goals, the programme links literacy, wellbeing, and sustainability through interactive learning, collaboration, and connection.
🪱 Worm Farming – learn how to turn food scraps into nutrient-rich compost, with practical tips you can take back to your school.
🌱 Native Planting – help feed local biodiversity while beautifying your school or community green space.
🧺 Harakeke Weed Mats – create a natural, biodegradable weed mat using harakeke – a practical tool inspired by nature.
The day will also include fun icebreakers, collaborative learning, a student-led lunch, and a group hui to reflect on what each school will take back to help drive change in their communities.
At the start of the day, we’ll invite each school to share a 1-minute update about what they have been doing (or hoping to do) for the environment at their school. There’s no expectation to prepare anything — a student simply sharing a quick update is absolutely fine. If you would like to create a PowerPoint or similar, we can happily accommodate this.
