Learn about being a part of Sea Week here in Timaru
Sat. 28 February – Sun. 8 March 2026
Our exciting announcement is that Prime Port is going to sponsor $2000 towards marketing!! This is going to make a huge different to the productivity of our week and we are super grateful for their support!
Our local focus will be “Connection with our Moana” – exploring what lives in and around our local moana here in Timaru, and encouraging our community to connect with it both recreationally and educationally throughout the nine-day Sea Week.
We have been in touch with Children’s Day organisers. We are going to host a stall at this event as a launch for our community Sea Week events – Sunday 1st March. We are to do something hands on – if anyone wants to support us we would love your help!
Here at the Eco Centre we are going to host a Eco Talk based on our moana. We are looking for 2-3 guest speakers – if you know of anyone please reach out.

We are looking for a business or the like to host a beach clean up (update- ECan is hosting a beach clean up at Waitarakao Sunday 8th March) and we are really keen to see a citizen science event e.g. iNaturalist at the rocky shore.
As you can see, we need this sorted by mid Dec as when we return from summer adventures, we need to be in promotion mode! We would really appreciate you getting in touch with us asap with your event details. Sing out if you have any questions and spread the word if you can think of anyone else that would like to support this week.
Thank you for your support in making this event amazing! Please feel free to share this to anyone that might be interested.
